NHS Pebbles

NHS Pebbles

Why

I’d seen a few odd painted pebbles. Some were animals and insects and some had little inspirational notes next to them or painted on them. I saw one or two with “❤ NHS”, and I thought that was good simple positive nice idea. With the Covid-19 Pandemic in full swing, and the nation fully backing the awesome NHS, I thought spreading the love was a good thing.

A pebble that inspired me to make more.

When

April 2020.

Where

Around Rothwell.

Materials / Media

Pebbles, paint.

Raw fresh potatoes pebbles.

Production

I 3D printed some heart and NHS stencils that would suit different sized pebbles. First, I painted them all with white masonry paint. Then I sprayed them up with all the different colours I had available in my garage. Then I painted on the hearts and letters.

Painting the pebbles with 3D printed stencils of varying sizes.

Execution

Some of the pebbles left in random urban and countryside locations.

Some of the pebbles I distributed.

Notes

These looked so good as a collection, it was almost a shame to break them up.

Duration & Fate

They generally didn’t stay where they were placed for long as far as I could tell. That might be because people took them to redistribute as is sometimes the practise. In some other cases though, I know they were just thrown as far away as possible from where they were picked up because that’s what mindless children do. I didn’t distribute all of them, so a few are still in my front garden.
