Scarecrow

First test run after putting it all together.
Some of us on the ship before going out.
All of us heading out in Oslo.
It wasn’t just the tin man who was getting well oiled.

Why

I was going on a Wizard of Oz themed trip to Oslo and I thought the Scarecrow would be the best of a bad bunch to be.

A friend of Dorothy.
Other characters on the Yellow Brick Road.

When

May 2005.

Elements

I wanted it to be more screen-accurate than off the peg versions of this costume so I made it myself and just used the straw ankle and sleeve parts from a fancy dress version.

Amount of Work

Not that much.

Level of use

Just the once.

Notes

For better authenticity, I put some electrical tape on my nose as the Wizard of Oz Scarecrow had a dark r black nose. I think I would’ve been the only person that knew or cared.

Future use

I can’t envisage a situation where this would be needed again, but it’s in my loft if I need it.

This weird thing made from an ex-girlfriends trousers was the basis for the hood thing. I had to determine where the hole was going to go by marking my eyes and mouth.
I like it though.

Following Wizards of Oslo, I came up with some more ideas for foreign trips. There weren’t any more trips though unfortunately.
