A 10m clearing in the middle of a newly planted wood.

A new wood was planted on the field opposite my house and I thought having a clearing in the middle with a bench or sculpture might be nice.

Spring 2020.

After getting some what three words coordinates, I marked out the centre and painted a ring on the grass.

Laziness. Uncertainty about uprooting young trees (whips) even if I was going to safely relocate them.

By 2021 the trees are taking root and getting bigger so ever increasingly unlikely I’ll do this.

Nothing. The wood is growing.

Not much, but having a clearing would have been mildly interesting or even pleasant in future years when the trees are much bigger..

I think the general idea is good, but I share your apprehension about uprooting trees. Would it be possible to design something around the section that has concrete on it from a previous playground? I know it’s not central, but could possibly link to a pathway through the trees. Only a thought & probably not practical?
