Police Car

My “Police Car” that could never be driven on the road.

What

An adapted car made into a Police Car as a piece of scenery for a two police themed parties I had. One was in October 2006 and the second was in May 2007.

Why

I’d decided to have a police-themed party and I was making a number of things for it like props and posters etc. My old car had been vandalised and I hadn’t got round to scrapping it, so I thought I’d spray it up white and design some unique livery for it.

When

Summer 2006.

An old Peugeot 306 from Durham with an old style revolving light similar to mine.

Development & Progress

My Peugeot 106 before it was vandalised.
An ex-girlfriend that had split up with me, called me up and my new girlfriend took the phone off me and in no uncertain terms told her what we were doing at that moment. The following day I awoke to find my car like this and I’m sure that was no coincidence at all.

I masked all the windows and trims up and went through a lot of cans of spray paint. The thing is, I could have just used household gloss paint and it wouldn’t have mattered.
I created some unusual graphics for the car.
Adding colour.

Painting some bold red chevrons.
More masking.
New graphics.

The lettering was glued on instead of painted on.
I drilled holes in the roof and bolted on a lightbar that cost about £90.
Rear view of the completed car.
Roof graphics on party night.

Mucking about with the car and my old friend Monique.
STOP! ARMED POLICE!!
Another photo of the fun police car that made a big difference to the atmosphere of the party.

Later / Current Status

In November 2007 I had the Peugeot 106 Police Car taken away Minus the lightbar of course. I got £40 for it. I was sorry to see it go and sat in it for  a while before they came. There had been some good and bad times in that car. It got taken off to be crushed.

The last I saw of the car when it was taken off to be scrapped.
