Weyland-Yutani Worker

Why
I was randomly thinking about costumes that weren’t entirely heavy, uncomfortable, injuring-causing or involved face coverings etc.
And as it was very nearly the 26th of April (Alien day), I wondered if I could put something together quite quickly for that.
Over a course of a few hours I cobbled together some kind of Weyland-Yutani security & containment worker out of mostly police-like tactical gear. I was going for more of a SWAT look than anything I’d actually seen in existing Alien-universe lore.

When
25 April 2026.
Elements
Strangely, apart from the ID card which I made specially on the day, I genuinely had all parts of this just in the house already. That was: Coveralls, tactical vest, police-issue utility belt, Boots, thigh riot pads, cap, my surname and Weyland-Yutani patches, Avon S6 NBC Respirator, fingerless gloves and of course, the Facehugger.
Amount of Work
The most effort went into designing the ID, but there was a bit of curating of things I already had. Using a full set of riot-armour was an option but it lacked comfort, felt like-overkill and could have caused problems getting into places.
Level of use
So far, only in April 2026.
Notes
A lot of younger people didn’t really know what I was about and didn’t even recognise the Facehugger. Which I found strange. But a good few people understood and appreciated it, either with or without some explanation.
The gloves were originally bought for the 80s costume. I would have got a kick out of knowing I’d repurpose them for something so much better all these years later.
Future use
It’s quick, easy and relatively comfortable, so I would certainly consider it for another outing. But it lacks some of the recognisability or wow factor of some other headline costumes.
