Garden Furniture 2021

New garden furniture for the side of my house.

What

A substantial replacement for the garden furniture I’d made only two years earlier.

Why

The 2019 pod furniture just wasn’t big enough and was a waste of space. I won’t even get into what a waste of time, effort, money and resources it was.

When

Spring 2021.

I’d decided the pod furniture was no good.

Development & Progress

A lot of careful planning for framework in an application Fusion 360. This all took way too long, but having good plans made the construction relatively straight forward.
All the cladding too.
A working diagram with measurements and angles for one of the sections I’d be making.

It all had to start somewhere. It’s all quite daunting at this stage.
Part A taking form.
Using decking as cladding.

Construction of part A almost finished. Two other parts and a table still to go
Part A stained.
Part A positioned and test position of a partly completed section B.

Section B ready to be stained.
The table under construction. Much easier than parts A, B and C.
Table stained and inserts for plastic glazing to rest on

Furniture by day.
Furniture, lights, fire, booze and music on an evening.

Current Status

At the time of writing in 2022, I’ve had it for a year and it’s nice to sit out on it, but the weather isn’t good enough anywhere near as often as I’d like.

The furniture as seen from the very top of my roof.
