Shelter – Minion
Why
There was some splattered paint from the same time that the flag panel had been painted red and it looked a bit untidy. Plus, I thought it was a waste of a panel. I LOVE the minions and i thought it would be nice for Bob to be facing the area where younger kids use the playground a few metres away. I also thought using the existing yellow would be an interesting idea.
Side note: I think there’s something wrong with anyone that doesn’t like the Minions. Every film they are in is joyfully brilliant.
Materials / Media
Paper stencil, paints.
Production
It took quite a while to find this version of Bob and I also had to reduce the complexity of a normal image to make it suitable for making into a stencil.
Execution
I did this over a few days, both inside and out by reversing the stencil. Extra work, but I thought it was worth it. Also because the grille would have looked bad if I’d only done one side.
Notes
It all turned out quite well, even if I initially missed off the goggles strap. Does unintentionally look a bit like Bob is sharting on the outside instance of the graphic.
Duration & Fate
Bob got gradually damaged by various things including the grille being beaten inwards with a golf club by a turd of a child, who at his grand old age of about 13 had grown out of minions and upon being challenged on why he was causing criminal damage said “no-one even likes minions anymore”.
I painted over all facets of the shelter in early 2021 with a dark blue/grey, but it still had green knobs smeared over each panel within about 24 hours.
