Mr Incredible
Why
I thought the 2004 Pixar film The Incredibles was brilliant. My friends and I were having a Superheroes themed night out or two and we then also used the costumes for Creamfields.
When
July 2006
Elements
Boots, muscle costume, eye mask
Amount of Work
For something that was bought, it still required a lot of work, as the pants section was just a hideous nonsensical mess, I had to stitch on some actual briefs instead so it would look how it was meant to, but that wasn’t too straightforward because of the elastic bunching.
Level of use
2006, 2007, 2018.
Future Use
Would do, but it’s quite passé now.
Notes
I wore it around the time of The Incredibles 2 coming out in 2018. My journal records the July outing:
I did some sewing on the Mr Incredible suit and got out the fully intact eye mask that Jon Moore made. I went into Leeds, arriving some time after 7pm. I don’t think I was spiked, but I ever had been, it would probably have been on this occasion. I got utterly shitfaced though, and it wasn’t good.
I don’t know how, why or when but I no longer have the eye mask. And I was extremely confused for a while and unable to get a taxi home. I had to wait and somehow compose my thoughts, will and effort to get to a cash machine. I think I remembered there was one at Brewery place. I felt sick in the taxi but held it at bay.
At home I couldn’t get into my pants and eventually tore it all open in a very destructive way. I’ve fucked it right up. Both of these issues are very annoying indeed. I did some repairs over the next few days. I still feel fed up about having lost the eye mask that my friend Jon made. Partly because it was better than I will make, partly because as an accomplished film SFX guy he made it and partly because I will have to go through rigmarole to make something myself to replace it that won’t last as long.
