German WWII Officer
Why
The WWII era German uniforms were stylish AF. I wanted one. Not all German soldiers were Nazis, and so long as you’re not wearing and glorifying swastikas and SS gear, there shouldn’t be a good reason to suspect you have Nazi ideologies.
When
February 2003
Elements
Tunic, jodhpurs, boots, cap with replica WWII badges, Replica Iron Cross and ribbon, ribbon bar, Infantry Assault Badge, holster and strap, replica luger (not taken out in public, so was a bit pointless to have), gloves, era appropriate collar tabs, greatcoat
Amount of Work
Just some sewing and replacing of badges etc.
Level of use
Only three times. One fancy dress party with an early version of the gear, one day in Haworth and some photos on the field opposite my house in the snow.
Notes
The holster belt and strap were items used in the production of Band of Brothers and may have been original era items. The other clothes parts were East German era uniform parts but the look almost identical except for being more grey than green/grey.
Future use
I can’t imagine I’ll get chance, or that it would be fun to keep trying to justify, but I’d like to wear it again. It looks great.
