Death
We humans find death a scary and almost unimaginable concept so we developed the comforting idea that death wasn’t truly the end. For some people that safety blanket makes life and the prospect of our own death, as well as that of others, that little bit easier to bear.
Nothing happens after death. No-one can ever “experience” death. That’s because all brain function stops and you’ve ceased to exist as a conscious being. Your bodily shell remains but your mind that resided in your active brain just stopped working permanently. It didn’t go anywhere else. That’s a ludicrous concept. There’s no such thing as a soul. It’s just something we formulated to deal with not understanding life
You can’t experience death but it’s an identical non-state to that before your birth (or conception if you want to be really picky). No-one (genuinely) remembers existence before birth. No-one worries or spends much time thinking about “pre-life”, just a nonsense “after-life”.
I like living. I don’t fear death because I won’t be aware of it.
I fear the dying part whether it is through illness, trauma or decrepit old age.
Death is final.
