Bavarian

New Year’s Eve in Lofthouse, 2011.
I couldn’t play this at all of course. 2010.
We got invited on stage because we’d made an effort and had costumes on. 2010.
I could semi-play the bugle as it doesn’t require full musical instrument skills. 2008.

Why

My then-girlfriend and I had been going to the German Christkindlmarkt Bierkeller in Millennium Square, Leeds in previous years but we decided with our friends that we’d make a better effort and make or buy some costumes to join in with the theme and make it more fun.

Real Bavarian Lederhosen etc.
Cheap tacky rubbish fancy dress places sell.

When

December 2008.

Elements

Feathered cap, bugle, bow-tie, lederhosen made from some green jeans. Bugle.

Amount of Work

The lederhosen were made from some old green jeans and it took a fair bit of figuring out, sewing and fannying about with.

Level of use

About 4 occasions.

Notes

They were fun boozy nights, but I don’t see any of my friends from those days.

Future use

I would, if the German market returned to Leeds in December, and I had friends that wanted to do something similar. So no.
